Today the three of us hired a massive, fully enclosed field for our two dogs, which is my idea of a perfect day out.
Unfortunately, we don’t allow our dogs off-lead in normal circumstances; they are typical Malamutes with high prey drive and selective hearing. I feel a bit sad for them when I see other dogs bounding about at parks and dog-friendly areas, but I know that it is with their best interests at heart, and we try to make up for it in other ways.
At this field our fluffy companions can run free, play, dig, eat fresh blackberries from the wall of bushes, and smell lots of exciting new scents, with no chance that they will escape or cause mischief. It is wonderful to see their happy little faces as they zoom over to you, and I spent the whole time grinning because of it.
We haven’t been to the field since our daughter was much younger, and she enjoyed herself just as much as the dogs did. Running, playing and exploring this little slice of the great outdoors in a completely stress-free and safe environment. Absolute bliss. See, I’m easily pleased really.
